Important On-Page SEO Factors
Search Engine Optimization is divided into two types
– on-page optimization and off-page optimization and both of these
are necessary if you want to achieve high rankings. On-Page
optimization basically deals with internal factors like title,
keyword, sitemap and more which helps you to make the pages search
engine friendly and hence, helps you to achieve better search engine
rankings.
While performing on-page optimization, you have the control over the
website and you need to consider some of the basic factors to
optimize you website and some of them are as follows –
1. Keyword in the Domain – It is always better to have the
keyword in the domain but if you can’t find a domain with your
keyword then you should try to include the keyword in the URL.
2. Title Tag – Title tags are very important for both the
visitors and the search engines as they give the idea about the
content available on the page. You can also use title tags to insert
keywords accordingly and you should avoid using the same title tag
on every page. For example, if you are targeting “Toronto SEO” then
you should try to include these keywords in the title tag but it
should not look like spam as search engines don’t like keyword
stuffing
3. Description Tag – Like title tags, description tags are
also important as you can describe the basic idea of the content
available on the page in two-three lines and you can also include
your keywords and search phrases in the description tags which can
help you to improve your search engine rankings.
4. Anchor Text – Anchor text is basically the text which is
hyperlinked to some other page. It is advisable to include your
keywords in the anchor text to improve your search engine rankings.
After you have inserted keywords at appropriate places like title,
description, body text and more, you should try to link your similar
pages with appropriate keywords in the anchor text.
5. Search Engine Friendly Pages – You should try to have static URLs
as search engines don’t like the variables present in the dynamic
URLs. Also, you should try to include your keywords in the URL as
this will help you to improve your search engine rankings.
6. Using Keywords in the Content – It is important to have
keywords in the title, description, meta and other appropriate
places and it is equally important to insert the keywords in the
content. If the content on the page is not keyword rich then it will
not rank at desired place for that keyword. So, you should try to
include the keywords in the content but you should not over-do this.
For example, if you are targeting “Mississauga Web Design” then you
should try to include this in your content appropriately and it is
advisable to have your desired keyword in the first line of the
first paragraph.
7. Sitemap – A sitemap is a page which contains links to all
the other pages available on your website and so, it is very
important to have a sitemap as it helps in proper indexing of the
various pages available on the website. It also helps your visitors
to find other pages as they can find the website outline on the
sitemap. Therefore, it is advisable to have an up-to-date sitemap.
As you can see, all these are internal factors and as you already
have the control over the site, it is easy to make these desired
changes but you need to make sure that you don’t over-do any of
these because that can result in a penalty by search engines.
Therefore, on-page optimization is necessary if you are looking for
high search engine rankings and you need to optimize your page
accordingly and intelligently considering all the on-page
optimization factors to improve your search engine rankings.
